Avalose unda is a nostalgic Kerala snack recipe,made with roasted rice powder & grated coconut that can be made and stored for long. Let me tell you, if you’ve got Avalose podi ready with you, then making avalose unda is very easy. The only tricky part is to get the jaggery syrup in right consistency.Keep in mind that Avalose unda becomes firm as it rests.
Ingredients
Avalose podi-3 cups appox.
Jaggery-1 1/2 cup
Water -1/2 cup
Cardamom powder-1 tblspn
Avalose podi-1/2 cup for rolling balls
Method
- Melt the jaggery with water.
- Strain the impurities and pour the melted jaggery in to a heavy bottom pan.
- Boil the mixture until it reaches one string consistency.
- Remove from heat immediately and add the avalose podi little by little.
- Mix until combined.Start making balls using hands.Be quick to make balls otherwise the mixture will become hard.
- Place the balls in to avalose podi and roll them gently.Shake off excess podi.Let it cool and serve with a cup of tea.You can store it in air tight containers.
