Kumbillappam, a very common and traditional dish, can be prepared using jack fruit as well as banana.Here i would like to share a very special kumbilappam using steamed banana.The very special smell of edanaela makes this dish a very special one.You could also use banana leaves for this. Ingredients
Steamed banana -3 big
Rice flour – 1 cup
Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
Powdered (cumin,cardamon and sugar)- 1/2 cup
Water
Salt – apinch
Bay leaves/edanaela-
Method
Wash and clean the bay leaves and keep it aside.
Crush the steamed banana nicely with a spoon or by hand.
Add rice flour to this and mix well.Add little water if required.
Now add grated coconut and mix well.
Add the powdered cumin,cardamon and sugar mix into this and mix well.Make sure that all the ingredients are incorporated fully.
Last add a pinch of salt in to the dough.
Now take one bay leave and shape it into a cone and fill in with a spoon of the dough and close it.Similarly make other dumplings.
Steam the dumplings in a steamer or idly pot for about 10-15 mins or until done.Turn off the fire and remove the lid.
Enjoy with a hot cup of tea 🙂
