This is a very simple recipe for making a typical thoran. It is very nourishing and tasty. This is a perfect side dish for meals and can be served for sadhyas as well.. Here is a quick recipes for making delicious Cabbage and carrot thoran.
Cabbage- 1 cup shredded
Carrot-1 grated
Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
Green chili-2-3
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
Salt –as per taste
Shallots-2-3
Curry leaves- 2 springs
Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
Oil-
Method
• Grind coarsely grated coconut, shallots, green chilies turmeric powder.
• In a pan, add little oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add the grinded mixture, curry leaves and fry for a minute.
• Into this add the shredded cabbage and grated carrot and salt to taste. Mix well, cover and cook on low flame for 3 minutes.
• Stir occasionally until all the vapour evaporates. Serve hot.
