Ingredients
Banana flower- 1
Vanpayar-1 cup(soaked 2-3 hrs)
Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
Green chillies- 2
Shalots- 2-4
Garlic-2
Turmeric powder- a pinch
Salt- as per taste

Method
- Pressure Cook the vanpayar and keep it aside.
- Wash, clean the Vazhakoombu (Banana flower), remove and discard the outer hard covers (red) and the mature florets till you see a paler cover with much tender florets. Chop this Banana part into very fine pieces. Once the chopping is over, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to it and mix well. Take a wooden spoon and with its stem slowly rotate (in one direction) the chopped koombu and you will see that the stem will have strings attached to it. Discard these.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add in sliced shallots,red chillies and curry leaves.
- Add the chopped banana flower and saute for few minutes.add little water and cover and cook for few minutes.
- Meanwhile coarsely grind together,grated coconut,shallots,green chillies and garlic.
- Add this mix into the banana flower and cover and cook for few minutes .
- Now add the cooked vanpayar and cook for few minutes.Mix well.Add required salt.Turn off the stove when water is fully evaporated.
Serve hot with Rice!!
