Coriander Chicken | Mallycharu| Chicken Malli Curry

 

Coriander chicken, chicken malli curry, mallicharu is very special chicken cooked in special masala powders .Mallicharu is a very good combination for Kerala vellayappam. This curry is apt for every special occasions. Curry powder can be prepared and kept in an airtight jar and used as required.

Here goes the recipe.

Ingredients

Chicken pieces-1/2 kg

Onion- 1 large

Ginger-1’’

Garlic- 2 flakes

Green chilli- 3 to 4

Curry leaves-2 sprig

Corriander powder-2 tsp

Cili powder-1 tsp

Turmeric powder-1/4  tsp

Black peppercorn- ½ tsp

Cinnamon- ½ ‘’

Cloves-4

Salt to taste

Coconut milk-1/2 cup

Oil- 2 tbsp

Potato-2 boiled

Method

Cut the chicken into medium size portion, wash well rub with little turmeric and vinegar, keep aside.

Slice onion, ginger, garlic, green chilies and curry leaves very fine.

Heat oil in a heavy pan, add sliced ingredients when it starts turning color.

Add the curry powder along with ½ cup water, cook on very low flame till water dries out and oil separate, add meat pieces, fry for a minute.

Add hot water, bring to boil, reduce flame, cover cook till the meat is tender, add boiled potatoes.

Just before serving add coconut milk, simmer and serve.
