Mambazha pulissery

Mambazha pulissery is a sweet and sour curry prepared using ripe mango,curd and coconut.This is one of the traditional dishes of kerela. Usually the small mango (nattu manga) is used to make this mambhazha pulissery,You could also use the other one also.This is an easy to prepare side dish with minimum requirements which our grand mothers prepare in olden days.

Mambazha Pulissery
Ingredients

1.

Ripe Mangoes (small)-7,8
Green chillies -6 slit length wise)
Turmeric powder -1 tsp
Chilly powder -1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Curry leaves –

2.To grind

Grated coconut -1 cup
Cumin -1/2 tsp

3.

Curd – 1 cup
Fenugreek powder( Roasted and then powdered) -1/2 tsp
4. To temper
Oil- 1 tbsp
Red chilly-2-3
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds -1 tsp

Here is the step by step process to make the Mambhazha pulissery:

  •  Peel off the skin of the mango and cook together the mango,green chilly by adding turmeric powder and chilly powder using little water in a covered vessel.
  • Mean while beat the curd to remove the lumps and keep it aside.
  •  Grind the grated coconut and cumin by adding little water to get a smooth paste.
  •  When it is done mash the pieces and add the paste into it and cook .simmer it and stir occasionally.
  • Now, add the beaten curd into it and stir. Donot allow this to boil. Add salt and combine well. check the taste. If the mango is not sweet enough add little sugar .When it is done remove from fire.
  •  Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.add red chilly and curry leaves into it and saute for a minute.Add this on top of the curry and garnish.

Method

  1.  Peel off the skin of the mango.Cook the No.1 ingredients using little water.
  2. Grind the No.2 ingredients to get a fine paste.
  3. Now, Add this paste to the cooked Mango mix.
  4. Beat the curd to remove the lumps and add this to the cooked mango.Also add the fenugreek powder to this and stir occasionally. Donot allow to boil.Remove from fire.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.add red chilly and curry leaves into it and saute for a minute.Add this on top of the curry.

Serve with Rice.
