Vazha Koomb/ banana flower Payasam

Have you  ever thought of making a sweet out of banana flower/ vazha kooomb?  Banana flower has got many medicinal properties and is very healthy. Vazha koomb can be used in many ways in cooking . It can be used to make curry, cutlets , payasam and many more.Here i am sharing a sweet dish out of banana flower. Try this healthy and tasty  banana flower payasam/Vazha koomb payasam.

Ingredients

Banana flower- 1( finely chopped)

Ragi powder- 2- 3tbsp

Jagree syrup- 1 cup

Thick Coconut milk- 1/2 cup

2nd extract  coconut milk-1 cup

3rd extract coconut milk-1 cup

Powdered cardamon- 1 tsp

Powdered dry ginger powder- a pinch

Cashews- 8-9

Raisins- 8-9

Ghee- 1/2 cup

 

Method

  • Finely chop the banana flower and remove the  thread and spread little ghee into the chopped banana flower and mix well. Keep it aside.
  • Mix 2-3 tbsp Ragi powder in 3rd extract  of coconut milk.Keep it aside.
  • Roast the cashews and raisins in ghee and keep it aside.
  •  In the same pan add little ghee and Saute the chopped banana flower in ghee for some time.
  •  Add Ragi and coconut milk mix into this and stir well until it thickens.
  • Add jagree syrup into this and mix well allow to boil.
  • Now add the 2nd extract of coconut milk and mix well and allow to boil. Turn of the fire and add the thick coconut milk and mix well. add powdered cardamon,dry ginger powder and mix.
  • Garnish with cashews and raisins and serve.
